Liverpool are short of a midfielder. The Reds lost Gini Wijnaldum to PSG on a free transfer this summer, we need to replace the Dutchman. Michael Edwards could turn his attention to the French Ligue 1. Liverpool should move for Houssem Aouar after Lyon bid for Xherdan Shaqiri.

Liverpool interest in Houssem Aouar
There are some players the Reds are perpetually linked with.
According to David Maddock, Liverpool have tracked Houssem Aouar for around six years.
The 23-year-old Frenchman has been on the scene for a while now having made his Lyon debut as a teenager.
Amid conflicting reports Le10Sport recently claimed Liverpool are in pole position to sign Aouar with his club allegedly willing to do a deal worth up to around £30m.
Lyon bid for Xherdan Shaqiri
This week has seen the French club get in touch with the Reds.
According to L’Equipe, Lyon have lodged a bid for Xherdan Shaqiri.
The Liverpool ECHO has reported that the Reds have rejected the bid and the two sides are some way apart in negotiations.
The Swiss international is expected to leave this summer having informed the board of his desire for a ‘new challenge’.
Liverpool swap for Aouar?
The Reds could use this bid to their advantage.
We’re down a midfielder and we’ve allegedly been keen on one of Lyon’s star players for a while now.
Liverpool should move for the midfielder using Shaqiri in the deal.
Michael Edwards could land the 23-year-old Frenchman for a bargain fee if he uses Shaq as a bargaining chip.
The French side are likely to be willing to do a deal due to the financial issues facing Ligue 1 sides at the minute.
Fingers crossed Edwards will work his magic.
