The next 4 players in line for new Liverpool contracts after Alisson boost

Liverpool have four players in mind for their next new contracts, according to reports. This comes after three players signed new deals.

This comes from the Athletic. They claim there are four names in line for the next contract extensions at Liverpool.

This is after Wednesday’s news that Alisson Becker has confirmed his long-term future with Liverpool. The Brazilian has a new contract, with the Athletic saying it’s for six more years.

That’s just the latest new contract, though. Fabinho agreed a new deal on Tuesday, while Trent Alexander-Arnold did the same last week.

That’s three of the club’s biggest players locked in for the foreseeable future. In fact, you can argue that those are the three most important contracts at the club.

Both Alisson and Fabinho are in the middle of their primes at a time when most of the first-team are fading out of theirs. The former is 28, the latter 27 – their new deals cover their best years in full.

They also represent the core of the side, especially defensively. It’s fantastic news all-around.

Alexander-Arnold is different, of course. He’s still only 22 and, hopefully, way off his prime years. This won’t be the last big contract with Liverpool but the Scouser is the Reds’ future.

So with those three tied down, who are the next Liverpool players getting contracts?

The next Liverpool contracts

The Athletic’s report names four players: Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson.

The first three are interesting ones. Van Dijk is now 30, while Salah and Mane are 29. Four or five-year contracts almost certainly go beyond the players’ best years.

We’ll have to see how Liverpool tackle that. The suggestion, though, is that both Van Dijk and Salah will get record-breaking deals.

The Salah one, in particular, is notable.

Robertson, though, falls into the Alisson/Fabinho camp. He’s still only 27 and a long-term contact merely guarantees his prime years for Liverpool.

All four seem smart to us, then. Hopefully Liverpool can get it all sorted quickly.
