Liverpool are said to be “aware” of the contract stances of Bayern Munich trio Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Kingsley Coman.
It has been a quiet summer on Merseyside thus far, with only Ibrahima Konate in the door.
Yet German journalist Florian Plettenburg has claimed that the Reds are keeping tabs on some top European talent.
He says that the club will know that Kimmich, Goretzka and Coman are struggling to agree new contracts in Munich.
It is possible that Liverpool could make a move for one or more of them if they do not agree on extensions.
Midfielder Kimmich and winger Coman each have two years left to run on their current contracts.
Goretzka, meanwhile, has entered the final year of his deal and is yet to extend at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern president Herbert Hainer told Spox (via Fabrizio Romano) that the club were hopeful of coming to an agreement with the pair of German midfielders.
However, nothing is signed yet, which could open up room for Liverpool to make a move in future.
Kimmich, Goretzka and Coman would all fit in at Anfield
The likelihood is that all three of these players will extend their deals at Bayern.
It seems quite clear that they want a pay rise, rather than a split. Eventually, the German champions will probably bow to their demands.
However, as we saw with Thiago Alcantara last summer, it is not always that simple.
Perhaps Kimmich or Goretzka actually will want a change of scenery in the coming years.
Working under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool would be the perfect solution for them if that was the case.
Both of them would be absolutely perfect in the Reds’ midfield, especially when Thiago and Jordan Henderson eventually move on.
We already know of Liverpool’s interest in Coman, which could be reignited next summer.
Unfortunately, it looks like there is no chance of any of the trio being signed this transfer window.
Yet it is still exciting to hear that Liverpool are keeping tabs on them all the same.
