Liverpool are going to have to bring a forward in this summer. The Reds are short of depth in the final third. Dozens of players have been linked and one Bundesliga star in particular keeps appearing in the gossip columns. Oliver Kahn has responded to reported Liverpool interest in Kingsley Coman.
Liverpool interest in Kingsley Coman
Last season we saw the goals dry up drastically.
From January onwards the Reds were lacklustre in front of goal.
Mo Salah had to carry the burden as always but even the Egyptian King missed his fair share of chances.
It became clear that we need to invest in quality in the final third.
According to a report in The Metro, Liverpool are interested in Kingsley Coman.
The outlet has repeated claims that the Frenchman’s asking price has been set at an astronomical £86m. Whilst other agencies have claimed the Reds have already submitted a bid.
Oliver Kahn on Coman future
German goalkeeping legend and Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn has had his say on Liverpool links to Kingsley Coman.
The executive is adamant that the Bundesliga side are working hard on renewing the winger’s contract which expires in 2023.
The Mirror quote the ex-goalkeeper as saying:
“We’re in talks with Goretzka and Coman. Absolute top players want to be paid accordingly, we’re not naive about that. That’s perfectly fine. With us, there is a limit, which is very clearly defined…
“We are in very, very good talks with both players. I am optimistic. We have a great package to offer here.”
What RTK has to say
Whether Bayern are in talks or not is irrelevant if his price tag is indeed as high as £86m.
Liverpool aren’t going to splash out such a fee on a player not guaranteed to be a starter.
However, things could change next season if the German giants fail to agree a new deal.
With a year left on his contract next summer he could be available for a discount.
