Leeds United have bid for Adama Traore, according to reports. That’s something that catches Liverpool cold.
This comes from Duncan Castles. He told his podcast that Leeds United have put in a £30m bid for Wolves winger Adama Traore.
It has been reported elsewhere that Traore is available for around that. 90min claimed it back in June, where they also said that Liverpool have a long-term interest.
The Daily Star then said similar just last week but claimed Liverpool were ready to bid around £30m.
Now, these aren’t the strongest sources in the world. We do know that Jurgen Klopp is a fan of the Spaniard, though.
He labelled him ‘undefendable’ after a game in March – and that’s not the first time he’s said as such. It shouldn’t surprise anyone if the Reds do want Traore.
But there is a belief that Liverpool don’t have that kind of money right now. Goal reports that the Reds may be done and unless there are further sales, they won’t bid for anyone else.
That news went down as you would expect and it suggests Leeds could sign Traore before Liverpool can do anything about it. And that might be a real shame.
Traore is a player who Wolves valued at over £100m back in 2020, per The Times. It’s a figure that didn’t surprise many at the time, either.
You can easily see what Traore brings and could develop into, after all. Liverpool could turn him into an absolute star, given his pace, power and ability to blow past defenders.
£30m could end up being a bargain and if Leeds get him for that, then you’d have to call it good business. This could be another one Liverpool simply watch pass them by, though.
Hopefully, they have bigger plans in mind.
