Liverpool have enjoyed great success with the academy in recent seasons. The Reds have used the youth set up to plug gaps and create superstars as well as raise funds for key buys. One of our graduates put in a stellar performance over the weekend. Some Real Madrid fans called for the signing of Ryan Kent instead of Kylian Mbappe.
Ryan Kent Liverpool graduate
24-year-old winger Ryan Kent was with the Liverpool academy from the age of seven.
The Oldham born lad impressed at every age group and was eventually sent out on a series of loan moves.
He impressed at Barnsley and Bristol City before a temporary move to Rangres.
The Glasgow side was so impressed that they made the move permanent in 2019, signing Ryan Kent from Liverpool for £7.5m with a 20% sell-on clause.
Real Madrid fans want Ryan Kent
Last weekend Steven Gerrard’s Rangers took on Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants went ahead early on through Rodrygo.
10 minutes after the break the Scottish side equalised through Fashion Sakala before Cedric Itten netted the winner 13 minutes from time.
During the game Ryan Kent put on a show against Real Madrid.
At one point the ex-Red skipped past three La Liga stars in a dazzling display of his dribbling ability.
As a result a world famous Real Madrid fan podcast called for Ryan Kent to be signed ahead of Kylian Mbappe, some in the comments jokingly agreed.
What RTK has to say
Whilst we don’t think Ryan Kent will end up at Real Madrid it won’t be long before Rangers are tempted to sell.
The 24-year-old has been impressive in recent years and he’s blossoming into a fine footballer.
When the Glasgow side do cash in we’ll net a tidy sum from his sell-on clause. Maybe we can use that cash to sign the 27-goal phenomenon that is Mbappe.
