Liverpool are going to have to rummage through the squad for improvements to the first team this summer. The Reds will likely rely upon a couple of youngsters to take on bigger roles. According to The Athletic, Harvey Elliott will replace Xherdan Shaqiri in the first team.
Xherdan Shaqiri exit
This summer will most likely see the end of Shaqiri’s time at Liverpool.
The diminutive Swiss playmaker has been a backup star since his switch from Stoke City in 2018.
Since his arrival he’s one another European Cup and a Premier League title.
However, in the past couple of years he’s failed to provide effective cover with only flashes of brilliance shining through and injuries hampering his progress.
According to Goal, interest in the 29-year-old is ramping up with Lazio and Napoli among four clubs interested.
Harvey Elliott to replace Xherdan Shaqiri
According to The Athletic the Swiss star’s replacement isn’t far away.
In fact, he’s already impressing in training.
Liverpool allegedly see Harvey Elliott as set to replace Xherdan Shaqiri in the squad.
The 18-year-old, once described by Tom Cairney as a ‘frightening’ talent, is apparently ‘certain’ to take on Shaq’s role following his successful loan move to Blackburn Rovers.
What RTK has to say
This is more than fine by us.
Harvey Elliott would be a big upgrade on Xherdan Shaqiri.
This is because any mistake Elliott makes he will learn from, he has time.
The youngster will spend the season being moulded by the boss and he’ll get better each week.
We can’t wait to see him strut his stuff in the Premier League.
