Liverpool boast one of the most successful academies in England. The Reds have produced some special players over the years. One of our most recent graduates will surely go down as a club legend. Pep Lijnders has tipped Trent Alexander-Arnold to be a future captain of Liverpool.

Liverpool academy prospects
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones are two of the most successful graduates from the Reds’ academy in recent years.
The former is the youngest player ever to appear in back to back European Cup finals.
Meanwhile Curtis Jones is making his first steps in the senior side, he appeared 24 times in the Premier League last term.
The current academy crop is incredibly exciting; we’ve got Harvey Elliott set to burst onto the scene this season.
Whilst Kaide Gordon looks a real prospect and Mateusz Musialowski has been dubbed the ‘Polish Messi’.
Alexander-Arnold Liverpool captain
The Scouser in our team is set for great things.
At just 22-years-old he’s already won it all and indelibly written himself into the club’s folklore.
Scarily, he’s only just getting started. Pep Lijnders believes Trent Alexander-Arnold can be Liverpool captain one day. The Dutch coach wrote in his pre-season diary:
“[Trent] grew step by step into the wonderful guy he is now, surrounded by a lovely family, he created this superb personality. He has this aggression in a positive way. If someone represents this quote of Bill Shankly it’s him: playing at the highest level isn’t pressure, it’s a reward.
“I still see the same fire in his eyes in each training, but I don’t see this young guy anymore; I see a leader, I see someone who controls his emotions, a future captain. A leader by example.”
What RTK has to say
It seems prophesied doesn’t it?
Trent Alexander-Arnold will captain this club one day.
He is the Scouser in our team, the man to pick up where Steven Gerrard left off.
That is not to say that Jordan Henderson hasn’t done a good job, Hendo has carved out his own legacy.
However, Trent’s Scouse heritage will give his inevitable captaincy a different dimension.
