Liverpool are in need of investment in the forward line. The Reds are short of quality in depth and there is a severe lack of competition in the attack. We allegedly have our eyes on a Serie A star. Liverpool signing Federico Chiesa for £85m would prove a bargain in the long-term.

Thin attacking line
As it stands we have four attackers capable of playing to the required level.
When you consider how injury prone the squad is we can’t expect to always have all four available.
As a result, we in effect have just three quality attackers to rely on.
This simply isn’t good enough for a title winning side.
Not only do we need depth in the attack for purposes of rotation and cover in order to avoid fatigue and injury but we also need competition.
Without competition for places players can become complacent and drop below their high standards.
A quality forward needs to come in and drive the competition in the front three.
Liverpool bid for Federico Chiesa
The Reds allegedly have set their sights on a Serie A star.
According to La Repubblica Liverpool have submitted a bid for Federico Chiesa.
The outlet has claimed that the Reds offered Juventus £85m for their 23-year-old winger.
The Italian was a standout performer at Euro 2020.
Furthermore, he netted eight and assisted eight in the Italian Serie A last season.
Bargain signing
Given Chiesa’s young age he has plenty more in the tank.
This is a lad who is only going to get better and better down the years.
Whilst £85m sounds like a mammoth amount of money it would prove a bargain if he goes on to fulfil his potential.
People scoffed when we forked out a massive sum for Virgil van Dijk, just six months later we looked like we’d ripped off Southampton.
Chiesa would be a repeat of this scenario, £85m would look a bargain in the years to come. However, it looks as though Juventus are holding out for more.
