Liverpool fans have been begging for exciting signings. The Reds had a torrid time last season and we need to invest to get back to where we belong considering the moves our rivals are making. If a report by the Liverpool ECHO is accurate then fans may get the signings they crave.
Areas of concern
In our opinion Jürgen Klopp needs two players, that’s it.
Liverpool need to sign a centre midfielder and a striker, we’ve already sorted the centre of defence.
Last season the goals dried up, we looked figured out and fatigued from January onwards.
As a result bringing depth and competition into the attack is a must.
Furthermore, the signing has to offer something different to Roberto Firmino – we need an out-and-out striker, not another false nine.
Meanwhile, Gini Wijnaldum’s departure has left us with a gaping hole in the middle.
A reliable midfielder needs to come in, someone we can trust to play a majority of games if needed.
This summer, like every other summer, the Reds will sell-to-buy.
It is a policy which has balanced the books over the years whilst the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid spiral financially.
According to the Liverpool ECHO the Reds are hoping to raise up to £70m through player sales this summer.
Michael Edwards will be looking for fees for Xherdan Shaqiri, Divock Origi, Harry Wilson, Neco Williams and Nat Phillips.
These sales will add to the kitty already boosted by the departures of Marko Grujic and Taiwo Awoniyi.
Exciting Liverpool signings
If we do end up raising £70m through player sales then Michael Edwards will have plenty of room to operate on the front foot.
Liverpool only need two players, if we burned through that £70m and spent a bit more past that figure we could land some serious talents.
The only problem is we need Edwards to get a move on cashing in on our fringe stars. If we does as well as he has in recent years then we could see some exciting signings in the next few weeks.
