PSG and Atletico track Jordan Henderson amid Liverpool contract issues

Liverpool are in a tricky position. The squad is getting older and it’s time to start thinking about who stays and who leaves. Who gets a new contract, who doesn’t. According to The Athletic, PSG and Atletico Madrid are admirers of Jordan Henderson and the skipper’s future is up in the air.

Jordan Henderson Liverpool legend

There is no two ways about it: Jordan Henderson is a Liverpool legend.

The skipper was signed from Sunderland a decade ago and in the years since he has established himself as a modern day great.

His first years at Anfield were tricky, he joined the club during a turbulent time.

However, he grew in stature and grew as a leader in the dressing room.

When Steven Gerrard left the club Hendo was the obvious choice for the armband.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

He has led the club to european, English and world titles.

He is quite simply a legend of the club.

PSG, Atletico Madrid interest in Jordan Henderson amid contract issue

This summer Jordan Henderson enters the final two years of his contract.

According to The Athletic, talks about an extension have taken place but there’s been no significant progress made.

The outlet states that if it was up to Jürgen Klopp then these talks would be a mere formality. However, we’re talking about the unsentimental, self-sustaining FSG here.

Apparently this uncertainty has ‘left the door open’ for admirers of the skipper.

Atletico Madrid and PSG are named as clubs who would love to sign Jordan Henderson.

Luis Suarez is said to still be a close friend of the captain whilst Mauricio Pochettino is thought to be an admirer.

What RTK has to say

This is the dark side of the success FSG has brought us.

Jordan Henderson loves the club and wants to retire here.

Considering everything he has done for us there should be absolutely no problem with tying him down to a new deal.

Letting the skipper go because of the business model would be cruel, not only to the player but to the boss and the fans.

This can’t happen.
