Liverpool are in need of a midfielder this summer. The Reds have lost a key member of the squad and he’ll need replacing. Jürgen Klopp should turn to the Italian Serie A for the solution. Liverpool should pounce on Manuel Locatelli if he’s available for £34m.
Midfield short of numbers
This summer we lost Gini Wijnaldum to PSG.
The Dutchman had spent five years becoming an indispensable member of the Reds’ midfield.
He rarely missed a game in the Premier League, his reliability was one of his greatest assets.
When you contract Gini’s availability with that of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain it becomes clear just how vital the Dutchman was.
Now that he’s gone we need to bring in a replacement or we risk being left short of numbers in the middle.
Liverpool move for Manuel Locatelli
The Italian Serie A boasts an embarrassment of talented midfielders at the moment.
Liverpool are yet to be strongly linked with Manuel Locatelli.
The 23-year-old Italian was a star for Sassuolo last term and he stood out at Euro 2020, netting twice for his country.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Sassuolo would accept £34m for the playmaker.
At that price Liverpool shouldn’t think twice about moving for Manuel Locatelli.
He is as good with the ball as he is without, constantly winning possession and using it wisely.
Given that he is just 23-years-old he has plenty of time to improve as well.
We need to focus on signing younger players who will be with the club for a while and Locatelli fits the bill.
