"If Klopp wants him, I want him": Twitter reacts to Aouar news

Twitter has been bursting with opinions on the news of Liverpool’s reported interest in Houssem Aouar.

After years of links, Lyon’s financial situation could mean that the Reds finally sign the Frenchman this summer.

What is the story?

Liverpool need a new central midfielder now that Gini Wijnaldum has left the club.

ESPN have claimed that the Reds have joined Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham in the race for Houssem Aouar.

This comes after Le 10 Sport reported that the Ligue 1 side would struggle to turn down bids of €20m (£17m) for the midfielder.

French journalist Alexis Bernard also believes that Liverpool are the most likely to win the race.

So, Liverpool need a new midfielder, Aouar is one of the best around and he is available at a bargain fee.

It looks like this story could have some legs to it.

Aouar is one of the best young midfielders in Europe. He has the potential to be a world-class player for years to come.

The hype around him has died down a tad in the last 18 months or so. Yet, statistically, he is performing as well as ever.

The 23-year-old is gifted from a technical and tactical standpoint. The only thing he lacks is real defensive physicality.

Considering that he is available for so cheap, it is almost a no-brainer for Liverpool.

We do not think that Liverpool would have considered signing him if he was going for £40m-50m. But now that it looks like he is available for less than £20m, we think that they might.

They have to weigh it up this way: do you get a Renato Sanches or an Yves Bissouma for £40m, or do you get Aouar for £17m?

It all depends on how Aouar is rated by the transfer department. Do they believe that he is worth a cheap gamble?

If so, then expect Liverpool to get this move over the line.

What do Liverpool fans on Twitter make of the Aouar links?

Unsurprisingly, Liverpool fans on Twitter are incredibly excited about the Reds’ reported interest in Aouar.
