Renato Sanches history

Back in the day Renato Sanches was named European Golden Boy.

The Portuguese centre midfielder had burst onto the scene at Benfica as a teenager.

His impressive performances at a young age earned him an expensive move to Bayern Munich.

However, his switch to Germany proved to be a premature one and after an ill-fated loan move to Swansea he was sold to Lille.

Liverpool face Renato Sanches competition

For weeks and months the Reds have been linked with a move for the Portuguese star.

Pedro Almeida, as quoted by the Daily Express, claimed Liverpool were close to signing Renato Sanches.

Rudy Galetti reported that Lille want around £34m for the man described by Paul Robinson as a ‘top-class’ player.

Le10 Sport in France has now claimed that Spurs will battle Liverpool for Renato Sanches with the North London side’s new boss keen on revamping his side.

Liverpool signing Sanches would likely see a tactical transformation with the Portuguese midfielder a much more attack minded option than Gini Wijnaldum.

What RTK has to say

If Liverpool do want Sanches then this could be worrying.

We won’t compete with Spurs on wages, we’ve seen that in the past.

The North London side is willing to pay over the odds to beat us to signings.

Liverpool were close to bagging Christian Eriksen before Spurs swooped in.

Hopefully this is all just a smokescreen for Youri Tielemans, we’ll cross all of our fingers and toes.
