Liverpool are expected to move for a midfielder this summer. The Reds are short of bodies in the middle due to a player departure and persistent injuries. According to a report in Spain, Philippe Coutinho wanted to return to Liverpool this summer but Jürgen Klopp closed the door.
We may well see a change in system this summer.
Liverpool have lost Gini Wijnaldum to PSG on a free transfer.
Whoever comes in to replace the Dutchman will give a big hint as to the boss’ plans for next season.
If he opts for a like-for-like replacement such as Yves Bissouma then we’re expecting business as usual.

Whilst if he opts for a more attacking option such as Nicolo Barella then we could see a switch to a 4-2-3-1.
Philippe Coutinho back to Liverpool
Back in 2018 Liverpool sold Philippe Coutinho for £142m.
The Reds used the money to buy Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.
Following the Brazilian’s departure we became European, English and world champions.
Whilst the playmaker’s career nosedived due to an inability to replicate his Liverpool form for the Blaugrana.
He has since been perpetually linked with a move away.
Sport in Spain has now reported that Philippe Coutinho wanted to rejoin Liverpool this summer but Jürgen Klopp has closed the door on such a move.
What RTK has to say
Liverpool moving for Philippe Coutinho would’ve been wise at the right price.
If he could rediscover his form of old then we’d be laughing.
However, his return would inevitably be a costly one due to his paypacket.
Furthermore, his age wouldn’t entice FSG at all, they’ll be looking for a player whose resale value will go up in the coming years.
