Liverpool have opened talks with Lille midfielder Renato Sanches, according to reports.
The Reds are on the market for a centre-midfielder now that Gini Wijnaldum has left for PSG.
Sanches has been strongly linked recently after a great season at Lille, where he helped them win Ligue 1.
He also starred for Portugal at Euro 2020 and was one of the best midfielders at the tournament before his side crashed out.
Now, the reliable Nicolo Schira has reported that Liverpool have opened talks for the 23-year-old.
It appears that Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards have decided that he is their man.
Sanches to Liverpool growing in traction
All the stories coming out recently suggest that Sanches could well be the man that Liverpool sign to replace Wijnaldum.
We do believe that they are interested in quite a few midfielders. However, Sanches’ Euro 2020 performances may have seen him jump to the top of the shortlist.
It is easy to see why. The Portuguese is a fantastic player.
At just 23, he is going to get much better.
He has superb physical and technical ability, with good defensive instincts too.
It is scary to imagine how good he can become after a few years under Klopp and his coaches.
If talks go according to plan, then Sanches will likely be a great success at Anfield.
