Liverpool are thought to be in the market for a midfielder this summer. The Reds have a hole to fill in the middle of the park and it needs filling immediately. One Portuguese player keeps cropping up as a potential solution. According to reports in France, Arsenal will battle Liverpool for the signing of Renato Sanches.
Story of Renato Sanches
There was a time when Renato Sanches was one of the brightest prospects in the game.
Breaking through at Benfica as a teenager he caught the eye of every top club in Europe.
His impressive form in Portugal earned him a £30m switch to Bayern Munich.
Upon his arrival in Germany he came in for high praise for Pep Guardiola with DW quoting the Spaniard as saying:
“He’s far and away one of the best young players in Europe. He has abundant quality and character and covers a huge amount of ground. He has a great future ahead of him.”
Things didn’t work out at Bayern, prompting a switch to Lille where the midfielder has flourished, this season beating PSG to the league title.
Liverpool battle for Renato Sanches
This week Rudy Galetti reported that Lille want £34m for their box-to-box man.
Following an impressive Euro 2020 campaign the midfielder seems to be in high demand.
Onze Mondial in France has claimed that Arsenal will battle Liverpool for Renato Sanches this summer.
The Gunners will be on the lookout for a midfielder due to the impending exit of Granit Xhaka and the failure to secure the signing of Martin Odegaard.
What RTK has to say
It’s easy to get swept away with a player after a decent international tournament.
However, Renato Sanches has threatened greatness for years.
With the right coach behind him he could go on to be something special.
If Michael Edwards thinks it’s a good call then we’ll back him all the way.
