Liverpool are in the market for a midfielder this summer. The Reds are in desperate need of reinforcements after a major departure from the side. According to reports in Italy, Liverpool are eyeing Renato Sanches and Otavio as replacements for Gini Wijnaldum.
Gini Wijnaldum departure
After five years at Anfield this summer sees Gini Wijnaldum sign for PSG.
The Dutchman will be moving to Paris following the expiration of his deal with the Reds.
During his time with the club he became a modern day icon.
Fans adored him for his work rate and determination and, of course, his vital goals.
He rarely missed a Premier League game during his time with the Reds.
As a result signing a replacement is an absolute necessity.
Liverpool eye Sanches and Otavio
The hole that Gini has left needs filling before the start of next season.
According to reports in Italy the Reds have a number of targets in mind.
Rudy Galetti has claimed Liverpool are eyeing Renato Sanches and Otavio.
The reporter has stated that each player is valued at around £34m.
Sanches is currently enjoying a renaissance at Lille and he impressed at Euro 2020.
Meanwhile Otavio has been a standout performer for Porto in recent seasons.
What RTK has to say
Firstly, we don’t know how much we can trust Galetti.
We can’t speak to his veracity but these are links which have appeared elsewhere before.
The question is: who would Michael Edwards choose here?
Renato Sanches is three years younger which gives him an edge over Otavio.
Whereas the Porto star offers more versatility, he often plays on either wing or as a centre midfielder.
The issue could come down to whether or not the Reds are confident that Sanches can realise his almighty potential.
If the club are confident that he can then this should be a no brainer but it would be a costly gamble.
