Liverpool want Alexander Isak

There are dozens of strikers linked with the Reds at the moment.

According to AS in Spain, Liverpool want Alexander Isak.

The towering Swedish forward has been a standout performer for club and country in the last year.

He netted 17 goals and bagged two assisted in La Liga, an impressive haul at just 21-years-old.

Isak won’t come cheap, Noticias de Gipuzkoa has claimed he has a release clause of around £63m.

Raphinha, Coutinho and Tielemans: The signings Liverpool could make this summer

Freddie Ljungberg on Alexander Isak

Ex-Arsenal star Freddie Ljungberg is a fan of his countryman.

The imposing striker performed well despite Sweden’s 2-1 defeat against Ukraine this week.

He was dropping deep to create chances for his teammates and always keeping his opponents on their toes.

Freddie Ljungberg has heaped praise on Alexander Isak, telling ITV:

“100 per cent [Isak has] been the one that’s special for Sweden. Forsberg as well, but he’s different from all the other players because he has amazing pace, so even if we’re very defensive, if he gets the ball we can break and teams struggle to catch him.

“Even if they do catch him it’s usually a free-kick and then Sweden can rest from the free-kick, so he’s very, very important.”

What RTK has to say

This lad looks the business.

Liverpool signing Isak would make plenty of sense: he is just 21-years-old, he has a wealth of top flight experience and he offers us something entirely different up front.

However, his price tag would surely prove a stumbling block for the Reds.

We’d have to raise some significant funds from player sales to pull this one off.
