Liverpool fans have wanted Kylian Mbappe ever since he burst onto the scene at Monaco. The youngster has established himself as arguably the most lethal youngster on the planet. This week saw his heart broken at Euro 2020. Some Liverpool fans have said Kylian Mbappe missing a penalty for France v Switzerland will help the Reds land him this summer.
Liverpool and Kylian Mbappe
This is a transfer saga as old as time itself.
For years the Reds have been linked with France’s crown prince.
Recently Marca claimed that Liverpool have contacted PSG to sound out a move for Mbappe.
However, the stumbling block has always been his exorbitant transfer fee which Guillem Balague believes would be around £155m. Understandable given that he netted 42 goals for PSG last season.
Kylian Mbappe penalty in France v Switzerland
This week saw the best day of Euros football in the history of the competition.
Two games ended 3-3 and did so in the most dramatic fashion possible.
The second game of the day saw France take on Switzerland with the world champions nailed on favourites.
The Swiss went ahead early on before a quickfire Karim Benzema double in the second half put France in the lead.
Paul Pogba extended the lead and the game seemed lost before Switzerland scored in the 81st and 90th minutes to force extra time.
The game finished level after extra time and every penalty in the shootout was scored until Kylian Mbappe took penalty number five for France and the Switzerland keeper pulled out a magnificent save.
Twitter reacts to miss
Kopites have, somewhat jokingly, suggested that Michael Edwards should buy the dip and swoop for the French wonderkid whilst his stock is low.
