Liverpool are expected to sign a midfielder or two this summer. The Reds are a man light in the middle and need cover for the front three. According to reports in Portugal Liverpool want to sign Otavio, A Bola has claimed the Reds are in advanced talks with Porto. We’ve put together three reasons why Liverpool signing Otavio would make sense:

Liverpool can sign Otavio cheap
When I say cheap, I mean for what you get.
A Bola has touted a potential fee of £35m for the 26-year-old if the Reds get the deal wrapped up fast.
Considering the player’s age and the level he’s been at consistently in a Champions League side then £35m is something of a bargain.
He’s about to enter the peak of his career, his value will likely only go up if we bagged him for £35m.
Otavio versatility
Jürgen Klopp likes to work with as small a squad as possible.
Otavio is able to play on either wing or as a centre midfielder.
This would help the boss cover a number of positions at once.
Considering how light we are on cover for our wings and the hole left by Gini Wijnaldum’s departure it would be smart to sign a player who can cover each of these positions.
Extensive experience
Otavio has two league titles under his belt and a wealth of experience at the top level.
He has made 36 appearances in European competition, not a bad haul given that Porto don’t often make it too far into the competition; last season’s semi final showing proving a rarity.
Otavio would arrive comfortable with playing regularly for a top side.
This is invaluable and would help him settle in quickly, he’s accustomed to winning titles, you can’t underestimate the importance of a winning mentality.
