Liverpool need to sign a forward this summer. There is a startling lack of depth in the front three and this needs addressing urgently. Dozens of players have been linked in recent months. Reports in Portugal have claimed Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign Otavio from Porto.
Who is Otavio?
26-year-old winger Otavio plays near enough everywhere for Porto but last season saw him most frequently deployed on the left of the midfield.
Born and raised in Brazil he signed for Porto from Internacional in 2014.
A jack of all trades last season he popped up as a left midfielder, left forward, right midfielder, centre midfielder and attacking midfielder.
Although finishing isn’t his strong suit he is strong in the tackle whilst also possessing great creative ability.
He has an eye for a pass and can ghost past defenders with ease.
Liverpool want Otavio
In a startling development, reports in Portugal have claimed Liverpool want to sign Otavio and are in advanced talks with Porto.
A Bola has stated that the Reds are keen on getting a deal wrapped up in the near future as the player’s release clause rockets from £35m to around £51m after the 30th of June.
Despite Otavio spending most of his time on the wing, A Bola see him as a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum.
Furthermore, the report states that Jürgen Klopp has made an ‘express request’ for the signing.
What RTK has to say
This is certainly a bold claim from Portugal.
If there’s any truth in it then we’ll surely see Liverpool announce Otavio before the end of the week.
At least with this rumour there should be a tight timeframe on when we can give up on it.
