Liverpool are always on the lookout for the next best thing. The Reds like to buy young because it often means a player’s value will increase over time. According to reports in Portugal, Liverpool are still watching Nuno Mendes.
Liverpool wonderkid signings
Over the past few years we’ve seen the Reds add a number of exciting youngsters to the ranks.
Harvey Elliott and Sepp van den Berg were signed hot on the heels of the European Cup win.
Whilst last summer saw the arrivals of Melkamu Frauendorf, Mateusz Musiałowski and Marcelo Pitaluga.
In January the Reds added Kaide Gordon and the ex-Derby youngster has thoroughly impressed in the months since his arrival.
Liverpool watching Nuno Mendes
The Reds have their eye on another wonderkid by the looks of it.
Record in Portugal has claimed that Liverpool are still watching Nuno Mendes.
The 19-year-old wingback has been a mainstay in the Sporting CP lineup since the start of last season.
According to Record the player would cost at least £43m with Real Madrid and Barcelona also watching the teenager.

Liverpool signing Mendes wouldn’t make sense at the moment, at least not for that fee.
However, if the Reds did have the inclination and the cash then the youngster would be signed to eventually replace Andy Robertson.
He could also offer some cover and competition for the Scotland captain.
Furthermore, he could be retrained into a left winger if needs be, the door certainly isn’t completely shut here.
