Liverpool hand Caoimhin Kelleher new long term contract, fans delighted

Liverpool had an injury ravaged season last time out. The Reds struggled to keep the first team consistently fit. One silver lining from the fitness issues was opportunities for youngsters. One such impressive youngster has been rewarded. Liverpool have handed Caoimhin Kelleher a new long term contract, fans are delighted.

Last season the Reds lost Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez for the duration.

Jürgen Klopp also had to contend with the absence of Thiago, Joel Matip, Diogo Jota and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Furthermore, Alisson Becker was absent on a number of occasions due to injury and personal tragedy.

The Holy Goalie’s spells out of the side saw Caoimhin Kelleher afforded an opportunity in goal ahead of Adrian.

The Irishman took his chances with both hands.

Kelleher made five senior appearances in all competitions and he impressed on every occasion.

Caoimhin Kelleher new contract

This week Liverpool announced that Caoimhin Kelleher has signed a new contract with the Reds.

The Irishman has put pen to paper on a long term extension with the club.

The move has cemented his place as no.2 to Alisson Becker.

Kelleher assuming the no.2 role on a permanent basis will be a relief to many Kopites.

Adrian impressed towards the start of his Anfield career but a series of sloppy errors in his more recent performances have exhausted fans’ patience.
