Fans and pundits are expecting Liverpool to sign a forward this summer. The Reds are in dire need of strength in depth up top. Last term saw the attack fatigued and figured out. Whether or not Liverpool loan Harvey Elliott could be a big hint as to the Reds’ transfer plans.
Harvey Elliott loan spell
Last season Liverpool sent Harvey Elliott on loan to Blackburn Rovers.
The teenager was a standout performer for the second tier side.
Elliott netted seven goals and assisted 11 during his 41 appearances for the Rovers, 31 of those as a starter.
The youngster’s loan spell showed great promise given that he was able to stand out in such a physical age at such a young age.
Liverpool Harvey Elliott stance
Just what will happen with the youngster this season is anybody’s guess.
There have been suggestions that he could be sent out on loan again.
However, many believe that if he were to go out on loan then he’d be heading to a Premier League side this time out.
Meanwhile, the Liverpool ECHO has claimed that Liverpool see Harvey Elliott as a contributing squad player next season.
Transfer plans hint
Whether or not the youngster is kept at the club could provide a hint at the Reds’ transfer plans for this summer.
If he is allowed to leave on loan then we can assume that the Reds are signing a forward.
This is because Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi are expected to leave.
Selling the duo and loaning out Elliott would leave the front four with no cover at all.
Keeping Harvey Elliott at the club could be a big show faith in the youngster hinting that the Reds won’t be splashing out on a new forward, instead turning to their boy wonder.
