Bolton Baresi rise

Last season the Reds lost every senior centre back in the side to injury.

Jürgen Klopp was forced to rummage through his squad to find players fit enough to start in the middle of the defence.

Nat Phillips stepped up, very much out of nowhere.

The defender was set for a move to Swansea City last summer. However, the deal fell through at the last minute.

Impressing with his performances he ended the season with 17 Premier League appearances and the nickname ‘Bolton Baresi’.

Raphinha, Coutinho and Tielemans: The signings Liverpool could make this summer

Had it not been for Nat Phillips’ ability to step up when needed the Reds would be playing in the European Conference League next season – or whatever it’s called.

Liverpool want Yves Bissouma

This summer will see Gini Wijnaldum sign for PSG on a free transfer.

The Dutchman was a near ever present in Jürgen Klopp’s midfield. As a result signing a successor is vital.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool want Yves Bissouma from Brighton.

The Reds would allegedly have to fork out £40m for the Malian midfielder who was dubbed ‘exceptional’ by Gary Lineker.

Nat Phillips to Brighton in exchange

Goal this week reported that interest in Nat Phillips is ramping up.

The Bolton Baresi has caught the attention of a number of Premier League sides and he could be keen on a move in order to secure first team football.

Nat Phillips is attracting interest from Brighton.

Therefore, if Liverpool do want to sign Yves Bissouma then they could knock some money off by throwing Nat Phillips into the deal for Brighton.

The Bolton Baresi could half the fee we’d have to pay for our Gini Wijnaldum replacement and the defender would get regular first team football: everybody wins.
