Liverpool have signed a number of talented youngsters in recent years. The Reds have been steadily recruiting some of the brightest teenagers in the game in order to save money down the line. We thought Liverpool had signed Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, reports in Portugal have claimed otherwise.
Liverpool wonderkid recruitment
Recent years have seen the Reds’ academy bolstered.
Harvey Elliott and Sepp van den Berg signed in the wake of the Reds’ European Cup win.
Last summer saw Mateusz Musialowski arrive from SMS Lodz, the Polish Messi has been a standout performer for the U18s.
Germany youth captain Melkamu Frauendorf joined in the same window and has also impressed.
Meanwhile Kaide Gordon signed from Derby County in January and has made an immediate impact, even turning out for the U23s towards the end of the season.
Liverpool and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku
17-year-old wonderkid Abdul Fatawu Issahaku was recently voted MVP of the U20s AFCON.
The attacking midfielder was a standout performer for Ghana and thoroughly merited the award.
His displays sparked interest from throughout Europe.
FootballGhana reported that the Steadfast FC chairman has confirmed that Liverpool have signed Issahaku for £1.5m on a five year deal.
The report stated that he would be immediately loaned to Sporting in Portugal to aid his work permit application.
However, Record in Portugal has claimed that Sporting have signed Issahaku permanently with Liverpool not involved at all.
What RTK has to say
I give up.
Can someone at some club please just confirm that they’ve signed this kid.
Every weekend someone else has confirmed something.
We thought the chairman saying he’d sold him to Liverpool would be enough. Apparently not.
