Liverpool consider a move for Alexander Isak, according to reports. If they want him, one awkward obstacle appears close to clearing.
This comes from Mundo Deportivo. They claim an obstacle is on the verge of disappearing as Liverpool consider Alexander Isak.
Liverpool are one of three clubs really looking at a move. Both Arsenal and Chelsea join them in that and it seems that Isak will move to the Premier League if he goes anywhere.
Real Sociedad really don’t want him to go anywhere, though. In fact, they’re making moves to secure him at the club.
One major move in that regard involves Borussia Dortmund. The Germans sold Isak to Sociedad but included a buy-back clause in the deal.
They can currently sign him for around £25m – well below the £60m it would cost everyone else. Dortmund don’t currently plan on using that clause and Sociedad want to buy them out of it.
That could involve given the club about £4m to remove the clause. Potentially well worth it.
Sociedad also hope to tie Isak down with a new contract, presumably increasing his overall release clause, too.
Liverpool consider Isak
Dortmund’s clause always made things slightly tricky, though. It would make complete sense for them to pay £25m and immediately sell him for more – if they can afford the first fee – or simply use one of Europe’s most promising youngsters.
Instead, it appears they might settle for £4m and move on from Isak. And that takes one team out of contention for his signature.
Dortmund taking themselves out of the race only makes things easier. Hopefully, there’s something in this one.
