Liverpool are persistently linked with the best and brightest. Recent weeks and months have seen the Reds rumoured to be in for one of La Liga’s most exciting prospects. According to Alan Shearer, Ronald Koeman has been raving over reported Liverpool target Pedri.
Who is Pedri?
18-year-old centre midfielder Pedri is one of the brightest midfield talents in the game.
The Spanish playmaker is a regular feature in Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona midfield.
He started 28 games last season and made nine appearances from the bench.
Given his young age this is huge responsibility for the lad.
Liverpool target Pedri
The Mirror claimed in April that Liverpool are considering a move for Pedri.
The outlet reported that the Reds have made contact with the player’s agents to sound out a transfer.
£70m is the figure quoted in the report and since then Mundo Deportivo has repeated claims of the Reds’ interest.
Ronald Koeman on Liverpool linked Pedri
The teenager was a shining light for Spain against Sweden this week.
Ahead of the game Alan Shearer told the BBC studio that Ronald Koeman had been raving over the youngster:
“I was lucky enough to interview Ronald Koeman two or three months ago. I was asking about the youngsters coming through at Barcelona. HIs name came straight up. The praise he was lavishing on was unbelievable, so big things.”
What RTK has to say
We can’t see Liverpool landing the wonderkid, not now anyway.
There’s no way Barcelona are going to let him go.
Furthermore, why would he want to leave? Of course Liverpool is a massive club but Barcelona is the pinnacle for many Spanish footballers.
