Liverpool fans should watch Pedro Goncalves for Portugal v Hungary

Liverpool are expected to sign a midfielder this summer. The Reds have lost a key member of the first team and replacing him should be a priority. Reports in Portugal have claimed Liverpool are watching Pedro Goncalves. Kopites could get a glimpse of the midfielder as Portugal face Hungary at Euro 2020 today.

Midfielder needed

The Reds are in dire need of a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum.

The Dutchman played nearly every Premier League game during his five years at Anfield.

This summer he will join PSG on a free transfer, leaving a massive hole in the middle of the park for Liverpool.

Just who comes in to replace the 30-year-old could dictate how the Reds lineup next season.

Liverpool target Pedro Goncalves

Should Liverpool move for Pedro Goncalves then we could see Jürgen Klopp switch to a 4-2-3-1.

The 22-year-old Portugal midfielder has taken Bruno Fernandes’ role in the Sporting lineup.

Record has reported that Liverpool are interested in the attacking midfielder but the Reds would have to pay his £51m release clause.

Last season the diminutive youngster netted 23 goals as Sporting won the Portuguese title.

Portugal face Hungary

This afternoon Portugal take on Hungary at Euro 2020.

Liverpool fans could get a good glimpse at the youngster known as Pote.

Whilst the 22-year-old isn’t expected to start he is likely to be a second half substitute.

Hopefully we see the reported Reds target on at the same time as Diogo Jota, it’d be interesting to see how they link up.

A standout tournament could well prompt Michael Edwards to take action.
