Rise of the Bolton Baresi

Last summer Nat Phillips had his bags packed ahead of a move to Swansea City.

The centre back was expected to head to Wales but the move collapsed.

He thought he’d spend some months on the sidelines before being sold in January.

Then came the injury crisis.

Nat Phillips was thrust into the first team following a string of centre back injuries.

The rookie stepped up to the plate and earned the moniker Bolton Baresi for his standout performances.

Nat Phillips on Thiago

The Bolton Baresi has taken the time to praise another standout performer from this season.

Nat Phillips has heaped praise on Thiago, telling the Blood Red Podcast:

“[Thiago is] unbelievable. His technical ability and knowledge of the game. His head is always on a pivot.

“You haven’t seen anything yet. There were some moments he’d produce in matches later on that he had produced in training.

“In those moments, you know this guy is a serious player, so yeah just to have shared a pitch with him, is something I can look back on and be proud of because he is an unbelievable footballer.”

What RTK has to say

Nat Phillips is right about Thiago; we’ve not seen anything yet.

He’s been boss so far but when he’s got a full strength side around him he’ll be a different beast.

The Spaniard in the middle with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho will be incredible.
