Liverpool play a specific brand of football under Jürgen Klopp. Centre backs are quick and confident with the ball at their feet. As a result, one man has been linked with the Reds for some time. Reported Liverpool target Ben White is available for £50m according to The Daily Mail.
Liverpool centre back situation
This season was a dreadful time to be a Liverpool centre back.
Every senior central defender at the club was ruled out for the season during an intense injury crisis.
Even the backups and the backups’ backups were ruled out.
As a result the club have moved to solidify the back line with the signing of Ibrahima Konate.
Now it’s a case of sorting out who will stay out of the likes of Nat Phillips, Ben Davies and Joel Matip.
Liverpool learn Ben White price
This summer will see Ben White head to Euro 2020 as part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
The defender’s call up was well earned, he’s impressed consistently this season and shone in the Three Lions’ warm up games. Jamie Redknapp told Sky Sports that White is ‘going to go right to the top’.
According to The Daily Mail, Liverpool are still interested in Ben White.
The report claims that Brighton have slapped a £50m valuation on the player in order to ward off interest from the Reds, Manchester United and Arsenal.
What RTK has to say
We can’t see Liverpool paying £50m for Ben White.
When you consider that the Reds have just splashed out on Ibrahima Konate it just wouldn’t make sense.
However, we can’t rule out a move in the next year or two as the back line is rejigged further.
