Liverpool may find their path to Yves Bissouma is clearing as Arsenal reportedly look elsewhere. The Reds supposedly want the Brighton man.
Nieuwsblad believes Arsenal want Anderlecht captain Albert Sambi Lokonga this summer. It would be a fairly low-profile but interesting transfer for them, potentially costing as low as £13m.
So why’s that relevant to Liverpool? Well, Football London believe the 21-year-old could be an Arsenal alternative to Yves Bissouma.
The Gunners supposedly like the Brighton man but Lokonga would be a more cost-effective signing. That could clear a potentially difficult obstacle for Liverpool.
The Athletic says Liverpool want Bissouma and could pay around £40m to make it happen. The need there is fairly obvious, given Gini Wijnaldum will likely leave the club later this month.

But Arsenal were always quite a big threat in any race as Bissouma is apparently a fan of the Gunners. Even if we’d still expect Liverpool to come out on top, that’s an awkward one to navigate.
Arsenal looking elsewhere, then, is certainly a good sign. It lowers the competition, possibly his price, and would also mean Liverpool can take some time over the deal.
Money is quite tight, per the Athletic, and they won’t want to rush into anything. Especially if they want to sell players first to fund deals.
Arsenal moving aside, then, clears the way.
Yves Bissouma to leave Brighton?
Another interesting one comes from Foot Mercato in France. They claim Brighton are looking at Bissouma’s potential replacement.
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde of RC Lens is apparently the man for them. The article mentions both Liverpool and Arsenal as potential destinations for Bissouma.
That would be another little obstacle out of the way. We expect Brighton to sell regardless but it makes it a lot easier if they know the replacement.
It does feel like the ball is in Liverpool’s court with this one – if they truly want Bissouma.
