'I haven't signed': Florian Neuhaus denies Bayern Munich deal

Florian Neuhaus says reports of an agreement with Bayern Munich are inaccurate. Liverpool still have a chance, it seems.

Bild claimed this week that Florian Neuhaus was off to Bayern Munich. Not immediately, though – there was an agreement for 2022. Neuhaus would remain with Borussia Monchengladbach for a year before moving to Bavaria.

All in all, it would cost Bayern his £36m release clause. They had their player, though, which was a blow to Liverpool.

Kicker linked the Reds with Neuhaus this year, as had Bild themselves. Instead, it seemed Liverpool would miss out to Bayern.

Only, Neuhaus denies that. He says there is no such agreement with Bayern and that he’s happy with Gladbach right now.

“I also read that my move to FC Bayern in 2022 was already a done deal,” he told TZ

“I can clearly deny that here and now. I haven’t signed a contract anywhere except with Borussia Mönchengladbach. I feel very much at home there at the moment.

Liverpool may still have a chance, then.

Florian Neuhaus denies Bayern deal

This would have been a blow. We’ve written before about Neuhaus and how he seems pretty well-suited to Liverpool.

Gini Wijnaldum’s expected departure leaves a gap in midfield, too, and it’s one Neuhaus could fill nicely. And £36m doesn’t exactly feel like an impossible fee – Liverpool could surely find a way to work with that if they wanted.

That’s not to say there aren’t other options. In fact, we wrote this week that Yves Bissouma should be the no.1 choice if Neuhaus really is off to Bayern. But it’s certainly a better situation if Liverpool have several good options to choose from.

For us, Neuhaus is one of the best available midfielders Liverpool could move for. He’s got a good all-around game, experience in a great league and he’s still just 24. There’s a lot for Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff to work with there.

Though, it is still possible that Neuhaus has some sort of verbal agreement with Bayern or that he’s planning on moving there. After all, he only says he hasn’t signed a contract with anyone. He wouldn’t need to sign anything with a verbal agreement.

But regardless, Liverpool still have a chance that we didn’t think they had two days ago. If they want to bring in a midfielder to replace Wijnaldum, we think Neuhaus could be the way to go.

And he’s available – for now.
