Liverpool fans will be glad to see the back of the 2020/21 campaign. The Reds struggled throughout due to injuries. The drop off in form has led to questions being asked at international level. Robbie Fowler has praised Trent Alexander-Arnold, slamming leaving him out of the Euros squad as ‘madness’.
Alexander-Arnold and England squad
This season saw Gareth Southgate make waves.
The England manager left Trent Alexander-Arnold out of his squad for a sequence of games in March.
The Three Lions gaffer was berated for the decision which was made in the wake of a poor run of form for Liverpool.
Since his decision the Scouser has come on leaps and bounds and was one of our best players of the final couple of months.

Despite his sharp improvements, The Athletic has reported that Trent Alexander-Arnold is still unlikely to make the final squad for the tournament.
Robbie Fowler on Alexander-Arnold
The expected decision by Gareth Southgate has fans and pundits alike puzzled.
In light of the controversy Robbie Fowler has heaped praise on Trent Alexander-Arnold, defending the scouser in his Sunday Mirror column (30/5; page 69):
“I keep hearing that he could miss out on the final squad. That’s madness. You’d take him for his delivery alone. He’s one of the best in the world. Set-pieces and crosses will be so important.
“And the best teams want full-backs to provide the sort of attacking option he does.”
What RTK has to say
Robbie Fowler isn’t the only one puzzled by Trent Alexander-Arnold potentially missing the Euros.
The Scouser, as he pointed out, is one of the very best in the world in his position.
With the ball at his feet there’s nobody close to him at full back.
To leave him out would only expose Gareth Southgate’s shortcomings as a gaffer.
