The Reds have plenty of business to do over the summer and they’re already at it. Michael Edwards has already secured us our first signing of the summer, a young french centre back. Raphael Honigstein has heaped praise on Ibrahima Konate ahead of his move to Liverpool.
Centre back sorted
This season was a horror show for the centre of the Liverpool defence.
The Reds lost every single senior centre back to injury this term.
Then the backups got injured and the backups’ backups were ruled out.
Players were dragged out of position and there was a lack of rotation as a result, leading to a severe drop off in form.
Thankfully the Reds have started work on a solution, Liverpool have agreed to sign Ibrahima Konate having activated his £36m release clause.
Raphael Honigstein on Ibrahima Konate
Liverpool appear to have signed a gem.
Our 22-year-old defender arrives with a growing reputation.
Bundesliga expert Raphael Honigstein has heaped praise on Ibrahima Konate, telling Liverpoolfc.com:
“He is just a top, an absolute top player. If it’s true that centre-backs, a little bit like centre-forwards, tend to mature a little bit later – and I guess [Virgil] van Dijk is a very good example of that – then the ceiling is still very, very high for him.
“I think there’s a lot more he can achieve and he can personally aspire to. So, top buy, in my view.”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool signing Ibrahima Konate looks better by the day.
The youngster is supposed to be mustard, he’s apparently one of the best young talents around.
Raphael Honigstein is well placed to analyse Ibrahima Konate and his review has us excited.
