Liverpool should move for Timo Werner from Chelsea, Klopp can fix him

Liverpool need to sign a forward this summer. We came close to netting a primary target last year but the global health crisis curtailed our spending power. Our top target ended up with our arch rivals and he’s had a terrible time. Liverpool should move for Timo Werner this summer, Jürgen Klopp could fix him instantly.

Timo Werner at Chelsea

Last summer Chelsea signed Timo Werner for £45m after activating his release clause at RB Leipzig.

The German forward had been courted by Liverpool for most of the season and his move to Anfield didn’t appear in any doubt.

Then all of a sudden the West End club swooped in and stole him from under our noses.

The thinking was that given the financial uncertainty at the time the club couldn’t afford to sanction such a costly move.

Whereas money doesn’t matter to Chelsea, they just wrote whichever number necessary on the cheque.

Since joining the Chels the striker has been disappointing at best, his time in Blue perfectly encapsulated in his wasteful Champions League final performance.

Liverpool should sign Timo Werner

It’s no secret that the forward has struggled at Chelsea.

The London club have a notoriously big bank and little patience.

There’s no guessing how much longer they’ll put up with his wasteful ways, he netted just six goals in the league this season.

Meanwhile the Reds are in desperate need of a lethal forward.

There’s always been a sense that he was never meant to end up at Chelsea, that it was not the first or most sensible option for him and his game.

Liverpool should consider a discount swoop for Timo Werner this summer.

He’s still the same player who scored 28 league goals for RB Leipzig before moving the England.

He just needs confidence, motivation. Luckily, Liverpool have the best man manager in the sport at the helm.

It makes sense for everybody for Liverpool to finally unite Timo Werner with Jürgen Klopp, we can forgive him for a bad decision a year ago.
