Replace Wijnaldum, please

This summer will see Gini Wijnaldum leave the club after a five-year stay at Anfield.

The Dutchman has been a pivotal member of Jürgen Klopp’s midfield, playing more minutes in the middle than any other player since he arrived in 2016.

Unfortunately, he’s out of contract this summer and the club were unwilling to hand an expensive deal to a player turning 31-years-old next season.

Last summer the club sold Dejan Lovren without replacing him and it turned out to be a disastrous gamble, we can’t make the same mistake this time around.

Liverpool linked Yves Bissouma update

There have been plenty of names touted as Gini’s successor.

Raphinha, Coutinho and Tielemans: The signings Liverpool could make this summer

Liverpool have been persistently linked with Yves Bissouma at Brighton.

According to the club’s chairman, Tony Bloom, the player can leave this summer if the right offer comes in.

Speaking in an interview with The Athletic, the exec said:

“We know some of our best players are not going to be with us forever.

“If the right offer comes along — and it has to be the right offer — and they want to go, then they will leave.”

What RTK has to say

This confirms the inevitable, we aren’t the only ones who’ve been rumoured to be in for the midfielder, the above interview cites interest from ourselves and Arsenal.

The Anfield Wrap recently reported that Liverpool had already tentatively offered £35m for Yves Bissouma.

Whether or not that’s been enough to tempt Bloom is yet to be seen.
