Florian Neuhaus and Yves Bissouma have been the two midfielders most strongly linked to Liverpool in recent months.
With Gini Wijnaldum departing the club to join Barcelona, the Reds are going to need to sign some new midfield recruits this summer.
If the club decides to go for a like-for-like replacement, Neuhaus and Bissouma are two of the best options around.
Borussia Monchengladbach’s Neuhaus is available for £34m, according to Kicker. The German is reportedly very keen to join Liverpool if they make their move.
Meanwhile, it would cost a fee in the region of £40m to get Bissouma out of Brighton, per The Athletic.

So, they would cost a similar amount. They are also the same age, 24, and have a similar playing style.
Liverpool just need to decide which player is better and go for him.
Here, RTK will take a look at their 2020/21 stats and try to come to a conclusion.
Neuhaus better in the final third, Bissouma a stronger defender
Firstly, we will take a look at their goal contribution numbers.
Neuhaus scored six goals and got five assists in 2020/21, while Bissouma only scored a single goal.
The German took 1.7 shots per 90, compared to the Malian’s 1.2, which is not a huge difference. However, Neuhaus was clearly much more effective, as 35% of his shots went on target while just 7% of Bissouma’s did.
Neuhaus is a slightly more accurate short passer (89.4% to 88.7%), while Bissouma is a much more accurate long passer (78.2% to 69.7%).
The pair’s dribble numbers are quite similar. The Monchengladbach man attempted 2.3 per 90 (69% successful), while the Brighton man attempted 2.2 (66% successful).
Finally, it is in defence where Bissouma really sticks out. He completed a huge 5.03 tackles and interceptions per 90 last season. Neuhaus’ 3.3 actions per 90 wasn’t bad either, which goes to show how incredible Bissouma’s numbers are.
As you can see, there isn’t much in the difference between the duo.
Liverpool have to decide whether they want to favour attacking output or defensive output.
They also need to figure out which player they believe will have the higher ceiling.
Either way, if Liverpool do decide to sign Neuhaus or Bissouma, they will be getting an excellent player.
