Liverpool will be hoping for a much better season next time out. The Reds struggled this term but a lot of it was out of the lads’ hands. We need all the help we can get next season; hence why Liverpool need to hope Chelsea beat Manchester City in the Champions League final.

Liverpool Champions League run
This season’s Champions League campaign was a tough one for the Reds.
We cruised through the group stages but did so with plenty of injuries along the way.
In the final group game, moment before he was due to come off anyway, Diogo Jota suffered a serious injury which kept him out for two months.
The first knockout round saw Liverpool dump RB Leipzig out of the competition in professional fashion.
The quarter finals threw up a tie with Real Madrid and the lads couldn’t hack it.
The first half we saw in Madrid was arguably the worst 45 minutes of the side’s season.
A valiant second leg display wasn’t enough and the lads were knocked out.
Liverpool need Chelsea win over Manchester City
This week Villareal beat Manchester United in the Europa League final.
The result left United in pot two for next season’s Champions League group stage draw.
Consequently there is now only one spot left in the pot.
Should Chelsea fail to beat Manchester City in the Champions League final then the West End side will end up in pot two.
This would mean Borussia Dortmund would likely be relegated to pot three.
Having the German giants in pot three is in nobody’s interest as it throws up a potential group of death situation, one the Reds will be praying to avoid.
If the Chels win then they’ll join Manchester City in pot one, a much better scenario for the Reds as Dortmund would likely take a pot two spot with Liverpool.
