Soon-to-be free agent Georginio Wijnaldum is set to sign a contract with Barcelona in the coming hours.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who says that the deal is as good as done after a verbal agreement was reached two days ago.
Romano also says that the player’s agents are currently meeting with the Spanish side’s board to finalise the terms of the deal.
The Dutch star’s Liverpool contract will expire on the first of June, when he will officially become a Barcelona player.
Wijnaldum will sign a three-year deal at Camp Nou that will expire in June 2024.
Wijnaldum and Barcelona a great fit

Numerous sides were linked, such as Roma and Chelsea.
Wijnaldum’s agent even made a plea to Bayern Munich to make their move, but it was Barcelona that always looked the most likely destination.
The 30-year-old’s ex-national team boss, Ronald Koeman, is now managing Barca and is a huge fan of the midfielder.
The La Liga giants also have a great history with Dutch players and the Netherlands in general. Johan Cruyff was possibly the biggest figure in the club’s history before Lionel Messi came around.
The Catalan’s are in dire need of some natural winners and leadership in their side. They are also short on midfielders capable of playing numerous roles in the middle of the park.
On top of this, they do not have much money to spend. So picking up such a talented player on a free is great for them.
Wijnaldum’s age may have been a turn-off, but his other qualities make this a great deal for Barcelona.
Hopefully, he will have a great career in Spain and continue to grow his legacy.
