Liverpool need to sign a striker this summer and there’s one name on every Kopite’s wishlist. Liverpool have been persistently linked with Kylian Mbappe at PSG. If Spurs end up taking Mauricio Pochettino back as manager then the French striker could be pushed further towards an exit.
Liverpool and Kylian Mbappe
Liverpool have been linked with Kylian Mbappe since he was a hotshot at Monaco.
ESPN are one of a number of outlets to list the Reds as an interested party.
Since then Duncan Castles has stated that Anfield would be the forward’s preference if he was to move to the Premier League.
Interest in the forward is easily explained: he is one of the most lethal strikers on the planet, this season he netted 27 goals in Ligue 1.
However, his prolific form wasn’t enough to win the title with PSG conceding the trophy to Lille.
Spurs want Mauricio Pochettino back
This summer is set to be a tumultuous one in North London.
Tottenham Hotspur sacked Jose Mourinho in the wake of the Super League debacle though the club claimed the two incidents weren’t related.
Ryan Mason was appointed as caretaker until the end of the season.
This week The Athletic has reported that Spurs have opened talks with Mauricio Pochettino about a return to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Liverpool boosted by Spurs appointment?
If Spurs do end up appointing Pochettino then this could push Kylian Mbappe further towards an exit.
This hasn’t been a great year for the Paris club; they lost the league title and failed to progress in Europe again.
The season was also marred by the departure of Thomas Tuchel in December.
If Kylian Mbappe wants to win the game’s biggest prizes then he’ll surely be miffed by the lack of progress and the turbulence at PSG, particularly if they lose two managers in the space of six months.
Liverpool could benefit from Spurs reappointing Pochettino. It’s a long shot but we can hope.
