Wijnaldum replacement needed

Liverpool will need to sign a midfielder this summer or they risk leaving a gaping hole in the middle.

The Reds are set to lose Gini Wijnaldum on a free transfer and he will take some replacing.

The Dutchman has played more minutes in midfield than any other Liverpool player under Jürgen Klopp.

His importance cannot be overstated, his loss will be felt greatly. To not bring in a successor would be a highly risky decision.

Who will replace Gini is anybody’s guess, there’s certainly been plenty of rumours.

According to Tutto Udinese the playmaker would cost around £42m.

Star season for Rodrigo de Paul

This campaign has been another impressive one for De Paul.

The Udinese star was ranked by WhoScored as the sixth best performing player in Serie A, notching an average rating of 7.41.

He finished the campaign with nine goals and nine assists having pulled the strings in the middle all season.

Despite how impressive his numbers are they don’t do him justice, his vision and passing ability aren’t easily quantified by assists.

He would be a slightly different direction to take as a Wijnaldum replacement but he would be an exciting signing nonetheless.
