Liverpool are set for a busy summer transfer window. The Reds have had a difficult season and it’ll need to be followed by serious investment. Jürgen Klopp has plenty of areas to address in the squad; Graeme Souness has said he expects Liverpool to invest heavily in the transfer window.
Liverpool transfer priorities
This summer the club need to invest in a number of positions.
Centre back will be a priority due to the injury crisis which derailed the Reds’ title defence.
Jürgen Klopp needs a defender to come in and solidify a creaking back line, concerns over the long term fitness of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez could see a new partner for Virgil van Dijk arrive.
Meanwhile a drop off in output up top means that a lethal finisher is needed urgently.
Gini Wijnaldum’s departure will leave a gaping hole in the middle, signing a replacement for the Dutchman needs to be high on the list.

Graeme Souness on Liverpool transfer plans
This weekend the Reds secured a top four finish with a win over Crystal Palace.
Qualifying for the Champions League will have a massive impact on the Reds’ spending power over the summer.
Graeme Souness had his say on Liverpool in the coming transfer window, telling Sky Sports:
“If Liverpool don’t strengthen, they’ll be the only team in the Champions League who don’t strengthen. If you don’t strengthen, you’re standing still.
“I fully expect Liverpool to buy this summer and buy more than once.”
What RTK has to say
We simply have to buy more than once.
As Souness points out, we are at risk of standing still or even going backwards if we don’t act decisively this summer.
Now that top four is secured we’re expecting movement soon.
