Liverpool are expected to have a busy summer transfer window. The Reds need to move on some deadwood and bring in some more reliable backup stars and improvements on current first teamers. According to The Athletic, Liverpool will sell Naby Keita if the right offer comes in.
Naby Keita at Liverpool
The Reds broke their club record transfer fee when they agreed to sign Naby Keita for £44m plus an undisclosed premium in 2017.
The Guinean arrived on Merseyside the following summer following another standout season in Leipzig.
Since joining the Reds the midfielder has done nothing but frustrate us.
He is frustrating because he is evidently an incredible midfielder but fitness issues have kept him from maintaining a run in the side.
Keita has never managed more than 16 Premier League starts in a season.
Liverpool open to selling Naby Keita
This summer could be one of upheaval at Anfield.
The Reds could well move on a number of first team players to make room for more consistently available stars.
According to James Pearce, Liverpool are open to selling Naby Keita.
Responding to a comment in a post-match Q&A the journalist wrote:
“Flashes of real quality but not sustained and more problems with fitness. Keita wants to stay put. Much will hinge on what offers LFC get. Clearly selling him would involve a big loss on that £52m fee.”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool selling Naby Keita wouldn’t be a disaster but it depends on the money involved.
The Reds need to recoup as much of his fee as possible.
Unfortunately his injury record has massively damaged his reputation and value.
