Jordan Henderson is set to be named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for this summer’s Euro 2020 tournament.
Henderson has missed the last three months of action due to a groin injury he picked up in the Merseyside derby. The knock ruled him out of the rest of the season and threatened to keep him out of the Euros.
However, he is now “guaranteed” a place in the squad after convincing Southgate that he will be fit enough to play, according to the Mirror.
Henderson returned to Liverpool training on Friday. Two members of England’s medical staff were reportedly there to observe him.
The reports back were good, so Henderson is likely to play a key role for the Three Lions this summer.
Southgate will name his 26-man squad on Tuesday.
Henderson a vital player for England

Henderson’s fitness will undoubtedly come as a huge boost for England.
The Three Lions will enter the tournament as one of the favourites to win it. Having the Champions League and Premier League-winning captain available to play will likely shorten their odds more.
Madly, there are some fans that do not want Henderson in the starting XI. Some are selecting the likes of Mason Mount, Jack Grealish and Phil Foden in their prospective line-ups instead.
However, anybody who knows anything about the game will know that Henderson should be one of the first names on the teamsheet.
He offers defensive solidity, leadership and know-how, which is crucial at major tournaments. The 30-year-old’s attacking game, in particular his passing ability, is also criminally underrated.
Grealish and Foden in particular have little-to-no experience of playing in centre-midfield, despite what some believe. The duo should undoubtedly play a major part this summer, but on the flanks or in the No 10 role.
Henderson would form a quality double-pivot with Declan Rice which would allow the attacking talent to focus on contributing in the final third.
In spite of feelings towards the English national team, every Red would love to see Henderson add a major international honour to his CV.
