Jordan Henderson has made an early return to training this week. The Liverpool captain was supposedly out for the season.
Jordan Henderson made a surprise return to training on Friday. He tweeted out a couple of images with the team after fans noticed him in training photos.
“It’s been a good day! So happy to be back with the lads,” he wrote.
Henderson hasn’t played since February 20th when he left the Merseyside derby early. An abductor injury required surgery and we didn’t expect to see the captain again this season.
Jurgen Klopp had mentioned that he could feature in training before the season was out, though. He talked earlier in the month about the chances of Henderson playing for Liverpool this season (none) and England at the Euros (some).

“Hendo doesn’t train normal in this moment,” Klopp said, per the Athletic. “It’s a decision for Gareth and Hendo. There’s a chance for England for sure, not for us, unfortunately.
“Look, he hasn’t trained with the team but around the last week [of the season] he will have a chance to train with us and he will be properly rested.”
So we shouldn’t expect Klopp to risk playing Henderson against Crystal Palace on Sunday. As much as he’d almost certainly like to.
There’s no way Henderson would start, for one, and bringing him off the bench is a risk not worth taking. Instead, the captain will focus on playing for England this summer as his first football in months.
Still, it’s great to see him back and working towards fitness. Liverpool missed him badly in some big games this season and Henderson being at his best next season is vital.
Along with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, Henderson can help transform this team back into title contenders.
