Thiago seriously impressed by Fabinho who 'does amazingly' for Liverpool

Thiago is clearly impressed by his Liverpool teammate Fabinho. The Spaniard had some kind words his the no.3.

It feels as though Thiago has really clicked into place at Liverpool over the last few weeks. We’re seeing him run games, press wonderfully and create chances.

In fact, the five chances he created against West Brom equalled his career-best for a game. He’s playing wonderfully and we’re finding it all pretty exciting.

But this comes after a slow start, of course. Thiago just didn’t seem to have a place a few months ago and was unable to compose himself. Defensively, in particular, he struggled.

We always said that problem had an easy fix, though – Fabinho. Liverpool were using the Brazilian in defence and that created problems.

Thiago often found himself as the last midfielder, which led to poor tackles. It also forced him to sit deeper than he likes when Liverpool had the ball, rather than his natural positions.

It’s not a coincidence, then, that Thiago’s upturn in form has come exactly as Fabinho returned to midfield. The Spaniard looks to have far more freedom and can concentrate on his own strengths – to Liverpool’s benefit.

Thiago, too has been impressed with Fabinho and his influence on Liverpool.

Thiago on playing with Fabinho at Liverpool

“When I came here, I knew how Fabinho was as a football player, what he has done here and what he did at Monaco, but I didn’t know him personally,” Thiago told Sky Sports.

“He is a very smart and intelligent player. He knows how and where to be on the pitch, and he has great strength in challenges. He’s there, he’s strong and he wins all the battles for us.

“Sometimes he has to handle not just his own player but my player or another teammate’s player as well, but he does a great defensive job and you can see also that sometimes he goes forward in an offensive way and does amazingly for us as well.”

It’s great to see Thiago recognise the difference Fabinho makes at Liverpool. It feels like night and day with the Brazilian out and in of midfield. He’s that good.

Thiago, though, has arguably been the biggest beneficiary. He’s a new player with Fabinho supporting him – the player Liverpool wanted when they signed him from Bayern Munich.

Hopefully, then, the two can keep improving together. Because we suspect they’ll get even better once Jordan Henderson is in there, too.

That trio can comfortably become the best combination in the Premier League. We really can’t wait to see them together.
