Liverpool beat Burnley 3-0 at Turf Moor on Wednesday evening. We got our best sign yet that this team is finally back in motion.

What a big win for Liverpool. They needed three points to push themselves into the top four and keep Champions League qualification in their own hands. They delivered.

Liverpool beat Burnley quite comfortably in the end, winning 3-0 away from home. That’s now four wins on the bounce and the Reds are now unbeaten in the Premier League since March 7th.

But despite the recent success, we think this was the best sign yet that Liverpool have finally found their groove again.

Liverpool won comfortably but they didn’t actually play perfectly. Several players had off days, while many missed clear-cut chances in the first half.

Mohamed Salah, for instance, just couldn’t get anything to fall. Roberto Firmino got a goal but only after missing a good opportunity. Thiago could have scored one, while Sadio Mane probably should have.

But it wasn’t just missed chances. Fabinho was dispossessed four times in the game, Thiago twice. Neither the Brazilian nor Gini Wijnaldum won an interception in midfield and combined for just two tackles.

Defensively, too, Liverpool were suspect at times. They struggled with Burnley’s long ball and lacked pace against Chris Wood.

Yet they won 3-0 and the result was rarely in doubt.

And that gives us reason to believe that Liverpool are in a groove, here. It was like a performance from last season, where the Reds ground out a comfortable win without being at their best.

It probably shouldn’t be a surprise that it comes now. Confidence is up and Jurgen Klopp has kept the team relatively consistent for weeks now. It’s the first time this season he’s been able to do that.

Phillips and Thiago both look at home in the team, too. The latter, in particular, is a very exciting prospect.

Win on Sunday and Liverpool can go into next season with this very groove and some extra confidence about them. After all, they’re doing this without Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip or Jordan Henderson.

All of those players will return this summer – the team will naturally improve next season no matter what. And given how good Liverpool look right now, that gives us a great belief that they can deliver something special once again.
