Harry Kane wants a transfer away from Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports, and that should keep Mohamed Salah at Liverpool. The Reds’ forward doesn’t have a certain future.
Sky Sports claim Harry Kane wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the transfer window. The England captain wants a move after missing out on one last summer.
It would be one of the biggest transfers English football has seen, in truth. Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are lining up to get him – and they won’t be the only ones.
We can’t imagine Liverpool plan on getting involved, of course. Kane would be a sensational signing, no doubt, but the money Spurs would want will be astronomical. Especially from a perceived rival.
But we do think this news affects Liverpool. It’s something that should keep Mohamed Salah at the club beyond doubt.

Kane asks for transfer
The two have been rivals on a few occasions over their career, primarily for the Premier League Golden Boot. Both are currently level on 22 goals, in fact, in this year’s pursuit.
We think their futures may collide this summer, too.
Bild report that Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea like Salah. They’d each like to sign him in the transfer window. Liverpool aren’t 100 per cent sure he’ll stay, either, as Salah could ask to move to either club or La Liga.
ESPN say similar and that Liverpool wouldn’t accept anything under £80m for Salah. Much like Bild, they claim PSG have him lined up in case Kylian Mbappe leaves the club.
Now, we can rule out Salah joining Chelsea. There is no chance Liverpool sell the Egyptian to another Premier League club – it would make absolutely no sense.
But PSG are a legitimate option, as are Real Madrid. But we think this series of events rules them out, too.
PSG will only get involved if they sell Mbappe and Real are the only team who would realistically sign him, as far as we can tell. And if Los Blancos do so, they aren’t also going for Salah.
While in that scenario, we imagine PSG would instead move for Kane over Salah. For one, he’s actually available, while the link with Mauricio Pochettino means it fits together nicely.
So Kane is slightly younger, more available and thrives under their manager. It’s hard to see how he wouldn’t be their option.
But what about La Liga? Salah apparently has an eye on playing there. Well, Real are the only club we can see affording him.
They’ll want Mbappe first and foremost but if they can’t get him, they’d surely move for Kane. Again, he’s younger than Salah and more available.
Spurs are far more likely to lower their price for Real, too, rather than ship him to a Premier League side.
We weren’t convinced Salah would leave anyway and Kane’s transfer request makes us all the more confident. With the Spurs man on the market, it’s difficult to see how Liverpool lose their star forward.
